Shecky’s goodies finally arrived in the mail! Some random stuff, but all are definitely useful. Included were: lotions, hair products, teeth whitener, razors, 2 books, and even a brownie! The people at Shecky’s also sent a complimentary goodie bag ticket for their fall event to make up for the inconvenience. Guess I’ll be going back in November!

Shecky’s Girls Night Out SF
Great deals on cute clothes, yummy cocktails, and a goodie bag… what better way to spend a night out with the girls? Shecky’s Girls Night Out came to San Francisco last Wednesday and Thursday and all the ladies in this city were ready for it! The event was held at the Herbst Pavilion at Fort Mason. Vendors were selling a selection of great stuff, including clothes, jewelry, beauty and hair products, shoes and more. Complimentary cocktails and beer were served at two bar areas.
I made the mistake of waiting until almost the end of the night to pick up my goodie bag, and they had run out already! No worries though, the Shecky’s staff assured me the bag would be mailed to me instead. You also had the choice of getting a refund and a free ticket to a future event. I was definitely disappointed to go home empty-handed, but am now eagerly waiting for mine to arrive via mail. Will post pics of all the schwag when I get it!
And don’t worry if you missed this event! Shecky’s will be visiting other cities across the country. Next up is New York City, from June 23-27. And they’ll be back in San Francisco for their Fall event in November. Check www.sheckys.com for more details.

We can all agree that shopping is the best, but when you’re like me and you find something at a time when you really shouldn’t be spending, shopping can be painful. In situations like these, it’s best to just look away and tell yourself “No, don’t.” However, every once in a while, you’ll find something so amazing that you can’t help but bend the rules a little bit. Whether it’s contemplating next to the racks, modeling in front of the mirror in the fitting room, or consulting with a friend on the phone, we’ve all come across an item that has us saying, “Should I buy it? I shouldn’t. But… I want it!” So, how do we decide? What helps us get there? It usually boils down to what I like to deem as the Top 5 excuses to max out your credit card.
1. “It makes my (insert body part here) look HOT.”
Whether it’s jeans that flatter your derriere, shoes that make your feet look dainty, or a top that knows how to reveal yet conceal, it’s difficult to let go of something that makes you look and feel like America’s Next Top Model. Usually, any type of monetary uncertainty can disappear once you realize that this item and your body are a match made in heaven.
2. “But it goes with everything!”
As you mentally scan the contents of your closet, you convince yourself that buying the item will not be a lost cause. It’s an investment. This is a smart decision, really.
3. “It’s the last one! And it’s in my size!”
If this happens, I like to think it’s out of your hands. There’s no question. These are the moments that make you feel like you can’t let down the shopping Gods and pass up on this wonderful opportunity they’ve given you. If you hesitate, remember, you didn’t ask for this, it HAPPENED to you.
4. “As soon as I saw it, I was in love.”
You know what I’m talking about. The moment your eyes catch sight of the hottest shoes, or the perfect summer handbag, you knew right then and there it was yours. And if this happens, I wouldn’t call it an impulse buy, but instead, I’d say it’s love at first sight. You can’t help it; the heart wants what it wants.
5. “I deserve this!”
Wise words to live by. So maybe you had a rough week at work, school, or life itself has just been really hard on you lately. Either way, the only thing that can bring you back from your temporary slump is a nice reward. And who gives a better gift to you than yourself?

Students at The Art Institute of California – San Francisco Showcase Their Creative Talents and Unique Design at the 2009 Fashion Show: Fashion Metamorphosis.
Beautiful designs take flight on the runway, revealing the incredible transformative power of fashion and the constant evolution of design.Join us for a spectacular evening of fashion and style at Fashion Metamorphosis, The Art Institute of California – San Francisco’s Student Fashion Show and Competition. Fashion Metamorphosis will be held on Saturday, June 20 at 7pm at the San Francisco Design Center (101 Henry Adams Street). Fashion Metamorphosis gives Art Institute students the opportunity to parade their collections down the runway to an audience of 1,400 guests, including industry professionals, Bay Area designers, fellow students, family and friends.
Fashion Metamorphosis focuses on the creative evolution of fashion given current economic conditions and the globalization of a world economy. In these times, fashion forecasters are predicting a return to the classics, the fall of fast fashion, and a reemergence of unique design and creativity. This year, we have challenged our students to think about the future of fashion and expand their creative minds. The result is Fashion Metamorphosis.
This eclectic and unique event will showcase over 100 looks from 25 designers. The full range of fashions on the runway will portray emerging trends across all categories, including: vintage coats inspired by 1940’s Hollywood; Moulin-Rouge type show girl costumes; full wedding party including bridal gown, bridesmaid and flower girl dresses; lingerie; evening gowns; men’s wear; and a variety of children’s wear.
A panel of industry professionals and top designers will judge the fashions as they saunter down the runway. The judges will then decide whose designs received top marks for various categories, including “Most Creative” and “Best Design”. Students with the highest scores will be acknowledged at the show and awarded with special prizes.
Tickets are available by calling 415.276.1069 or 415.276.1011, Monday through Friday, 8AM – 6PM. Tickets are $20 for general admission / advance purchase or $25 at the door. Limited VIP tickets are also available for $50, which offer an all-access pass, floor seating on the main floor, gift bags, and a special VIP area with complimentary wine, beer, assorted beverages and hors d’oeuvres, as well as the styling sounds of DJ Alfredo Lopez.
Fashion Metamorphosis is being produced by students in the Fashion Show Production class at The Art Institute of California – San Francisco.

Buy my shoes.
I bought these from the newly launched shoe brand Marais USA and they do not fit.
Unfortunately (um, really unfortunately) Marais does not take returns. So I will sell them to you.
These will best fit a 9.5/10. They are $58.
They’re brand new, never ever worn, in the box. Click through for more info.
I might add this is a deal because Marais’ ridiculous shipping is $20. Errrgh.
